The Mark Twain Award provides the children of Missouri with their very own source of the best new books for young people, to enrich their lives through reading and to find the joys that lie in being able to read.  When one associates children and reading in Missouri, Mark Twain, the best-loved author the world over is the obvious one for such an honor.  It is to his name we pay this tribute. 

Students are invited to read along with me, as we explore this year’s twelve nominees.  Its hoped that you will make comments, insights, and ask questions about the books.  This blog is dedicated to you the reader and although I developed the blog, please feel free to include artwork, pictures, etc. about the books.

 

About the Blog:

I am the Library Media Specialist at Harrisonville Middle School in Harrisonville, MO.  This is the third year for the Mark Twain Blog and I apologize for being late in getting the new blog up and running.  It seems like the summer just got away from me.  If you are new to the blog welcome and I hope you find something here of interest, if you are returning blogger I hope that it lives up to what you have come to expect from the blog.  We were lucky enough last year to have a some of the authors stop by answer questions and leave comments of their own.  Hopefully some of this year’s authors will make a visit.  On a personal note, I would like to thank everyone that has contacted me and ask me to continue the blog and for all of the support.   Thank you and enjoy this year’s nominees and the blog, and please don’t forget to leave me suggestions on how to make the blog better.  Because ultimately this is your blog, I’m just the caretaker.
